Groundwork Cheshire has been working with its local authority partners since 1983 – delivering, in partnership, a diverse range of programmes and projects. In 2009, the county of Cheshire underwent local government reorganisation, and since then Groundwork has been working closely with its two new unitary authorities – Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.
Local authorities are Groundwork’s most important partners and we work closely with them to develop and deliver programmes and projects that benefit the communities – be they businesses, neighbourhoods or schools – that we collectively serve.
The relationship works because Groundwork is not tied up with some of the red tape that can often constrain the public sector. We can find innovative, experimental and creative solutions to problems, we can tap into funding streams which are closed to the public sector, we can act as an independent third party in more sensitive settings and we get things done.
Our extensive portfolio of work means that we have a vast network of contacts across many sectors and across the entire county. Our knowledge and experience is put to good use on the Local Strategic Partnerships and the emerging sub-regional commissions.
