Groundwork provides feasibility assessments for open spaces: to verify the case for its selection; to analyse the site’s accessibility (catchment area, key access routes and convenience) and to assess its potential for added value. Often this will relate to its potential to encourage community cohesion.
Our open space projects aim to effectively engage with the local community, listening to all voices and maintaining close-working partnerships with stakeholders. This way, we get to know the real issues, find out conflicting interests and identify genuine local needs from a broad range of stakeholders.
These methods are aimed at creating a suitable user-led landscape design. We want to make a genuine difference to the way local people use and regard the open space: to broaden the range of users; to maximise their experience in using the site and to ensure long-term management and sustainability.
