Groundwork plays an important role in the strategic planning and implementation of land regeneration programmes in Cheshire. We work with local communities to decide on appropriate plans for regeneration – improving disused land to meet the needs of local people through careful landscape design or improving established footpaths to improve access to the countryside.
The opportunity to unlock the landscape’s potential for the community is enormous, and Groundwork’s role does not end once the land has been physically improved. The Trust’s experience of establishing and working with ‘Friends of’ groups mean that communities can soon find themselves being land managers, playing an important part in maintaining the land for future generations to explore.
