Groundwork & the Environment

Groundwork Cheshire has identified the environmental aspects of its activities and acknowledges its responsibility under the Environmental Protection Act, EPA (1990) and associated legislation to reduce the impact on the environment. As part of its commitment, senior management has endorsed the Environmental Policy and takes primary responsibility for its implementation. The policy sets out aims for continuous environmental improvements and has four key themes:

Environmental Management

In order to reduce the environmental impacts, strategies for change are developed in line with an Environmental Management System. Specific procedures for managing and reducing the impacts are documented. The Safety, Health & Environment committee is responsible for overseeing the development of environmental initiatives.

An Environmental Management team discuss environmental issues and ensure the profile of the environment is raised.

Individual Environmental Responsibility

Groundwork Cheshire believes that responsibility for the environment rests with every member of Groundwork Cheshire’s staff. We firmly believe awareness of the effects of Groundwork’s activities on the environment and ways to improve the impact on the environment is the responsibility of everyone.
